My process starts with you.
You care about something bigger than yourself.
Here are some other things that are true about you:
You know what it takes to help others and yourself succeed.
You value introspection, creativity, and social engagement.
You want to make things better—for others, for your community, and for yourself.
You desire to bring all of your gifts, talents, and passions into your work.
You feel a calling that goes beyond a traditional 9-to-5.
You understand the importance and role of psychotherapy in addressing issues coaching cannot.
You sense an urgency about the changes you want to make.
You need an approach to learning and growth that brings real results.
You welcome spirituality, psychology, philosophy, and ethics into your leadership development.
You also may be experiencing experiencing one or more of the following:
A challenging transition in your life, career, or leadership
Changes in your sense of mission, calling, and vocation
Difficulties leading in volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) times
Stress, burnout, and depletion from taking on too much
Conflicts over priorities, values, or personalities
Imposter syndrome
Cultural changes and misalignments
Struggles in balancing it all
I’m your catalyst for change.
My story:
For nearly a decade, I was an award-winning professor of nonprofit leadership communication. I loved teaching and mentoring students and enjoyed the thrill of discovering new ideas. But academia was also isolating. I wanted my work to touch the world.
I now support people transforming the lives of others. This work inspires every part of me: the joy of a master teacher, the curiosity of a sociologist, the pragmatism of an executive, the wisdom of a philosopher, the creativity of a designer, the empathy of a friend. It integrates my intellectual passions: organizational leadership, social ethics, religion and spirituality, and psychology. And it draws on my 13 years’ experience in the social sector.
As an ICF-certified coach and NARM®-informed professional with a Ph.D. in rhetoric, I take a holistic and trauma-informed approach. I serve nonprofit executives, religious leaders, educators, community organizers, and others seeking change.
My credentials:
Ph.D. in Rhetoric (Duquesne University) focused on interpersonal, organizational, and ethical communication
M.A. in Corporate Communication (Duquesne University) focused on nonprofit leadership
Professional Certified Coach (PCC) by the International Coaching Federation (ICF)
Graduate of Duquesne University’s ICF-accredited Professional Coach Certification Program
NARM®-Informed Professional with expertise in developmental, cultural, and intergenerational trauma
Two books and 25 academic essays on nonprofit, educational, and faith-based leadership
2017 Book of the Year Award from the Religious Communication Association for my book on religious institutions in crisis
9 years as an award-winning, tenured professor of leadership communication
13 years as an award-winning nonprofit communication practitioner and consultant
